To ensure effective protection and optimal comfort, it is essential to choose a set of leg boots and hind fetlock boots suited to your horse’s morphology.

The leg boots should properly protect the tendons without extending onto the knee or fetlock, in order to preserve freedom of movement. The hind fetlock boots should be positioned by sliding them downwards from the top until they naturally fit around the fetlock. The protective shell should be positioned at the back of the leg, with the fasteners facing outwards.

Thanks to their ergonomic design and synthetic fur lining, the boots fit comfortably around the horse’s legs while helping to minimise the risk of rubbing. Make sure the leg boots and hind fetlock boots are properly centred, sit close against the legs and are correctly adjusted. The fasteners should be tightened enough to ensure a secure fit, without applying excessive pressure or restricting circulation.

Once the boots are fitted, walk your horse a few steps to make sure they remain perfectly in position without rotating or slipping. After the session, check for any marks, areas of heat or irritation, which could indicate that an adjustment is needed.

• How to slide them into position correctly
Present the open hind fetlock boot, then place it slightly above the fetlock. Gently slide it downwards until it naturally sits around the fetlock. This top-to-bottom movement allows the hind fetlock boot to follow the shape of the leg without catching the hair or creating folds.

• Final adjustment
Once in position:
- the hind fetlock boot should be properly centred,
- the shells or reinforcements should sit at the back of the fetlock,
- the fasteners (hook-and-loop straps or buttons) should face outwards and be closed without excessive tension.
It should stay securely in place without compressing the leg or slipping down during exercise.
