Fetlock boots must be adapted to the horse's size and correctly positioned to protect without hindering. They are put on by sliding them from top to bottom, until they naturally fit the fetlock. The protective part should be at the back of the fetlock, with the fastenings facing outwards.

They must stay in place without being excessively tight and should not turn when the horse is moving. Any marks, heat, or discomfort indicates that the fit needs to be re-evaluated.

Fetlock boots must be positioned carefully to protect effectively without creating friction or tension.

• How to slide them on correctly
Hold the boot open, then place it slightly above the fetlock. Then gently slide it downwards until it naturally positions itself around the fetlock.

This top-to-bottom motion allows the fetlock boot to conform to the shape of the limb, without catching hair or creating creases.

• Final adjustment
Once in place:
- the fetlock boot must be well-centered,
- the shells or reinforcements must be at the back of the fetlock,
- the fastenings (velcro or buttons) are placed outwards, fastened without excess.

It must stay in place without compressing or slipping during work.

Slide it on, never force it.

A well-positioned fetlock boot protects effectively while respecting the horse's freedom of movement and comfort.
