• With a swivel snap hook, designed to prevent the lead rope from twisting, the attachment point should be on the horse's side and the swivel should remain free, without permanent tension. On a show lead, the attachment should allow natural sliding, remaining well aligned between the handler's hand and the attachment point, to avoid any angle or blockage.

Generally, the rule to remember is to systematically orient the movable parts outwards, away from the horse. A correctly positioned snap hook contributes to better safety, smoother actions, and increased comfort, whether during groundwork, showing, or daily handling.
