Fitting

To find the correct bit size, you can use a simple and precise method: the string technique. Take a piece of string or twine and gently place it in the horse's mouth, where the bit usually rests, from one corner of the mouth to the other.

Then, mark the two reference points and measure the resulting length when flat. This measurement corresponds to the ideal bit width.

A well-chosen bit should extend very slightly beyond each side, by only a few millimeters, to remain stable without pinching the corners of the mouth. Once in place, it should create one to two small wrinkles at the corners of the mouth, indicating a comfortable fit.
