A well-positioned hay net allows the horse to eat slowly, in a comfortable and secure posture.

• The right height: Ideally, the net should be placed at chest height or slightly lower, so that the horse maintains its neck in a natural position, similar to grazing.
- Too high: Tension in the neck and back.
- Too low: Risk of a hoof getting caught.

• Safety first: Secure the net with a strong and reliable system. Avoid overly long loops or strings. Make sure the horse cannot get a hoof tangled in the net.

Filling a hay net can quickly become a workout, unless you have the right method!

• Tip 1: Place it on the ground
Lay the open net on the ground, held down with a foot or wedged into a bucket. This keeps the opening stable and allows you to fill it without fighting the net.

• Tip 2: Use a bucket or a bin
Place the net inside a large bucket or a clean bin, fold the edges of the net outwards, then fill with hay. Once full, simply close and remove the net.
This is an ideal tip for small-mesh nets.

• Tip 3: Lightly compress the hay
Take handfuls of hay and gently tamp them down as you go. This allows you to put more hay in without straining the mesh or deforming the net.

• Tip 4: Partially hang the net
Hang the net at hip height, open it wide, then fill it from the top. This method is convenient if you are used to it and the net is flexible.
