Overreach boots protect the bulbs and heels from injury, especially in horses that interfere or pull off their shoes. To be effective, they must be properly fitted: neither too big nor too tight.

• Choosing the right size
The overreach boot must completely cover the bulbs, without dragging excessively on the ground.
Too short: insufficient protection.
Too long: it can hinder movement, wear out prematurely, or cause rubbing.
The overreach boot should just touch the ground when the hoof is placed, without bending or turning over.

• Correct positioning
Once in place, the overreach boot must be well-centered around the hoof, without turning. The bottom should surround the hoof evenly, and the top part should not compress the pastern. Overreach boots are generally worn with the velcro on the outside, to avoid rubbing and limit the risk of accidental opening.

• Adjustment and fastening
The velcro must be fastened firmly but not excessively. The overreach boot must stay in place without creating continuous pressure. Excessive fastening can cause overheating, irritation, or swelling, while insufficient fastening promotes rotation or loss of the boot.

• Checks after work
After the session, remove the overreach boots and check for any marks or overheating. Any sign of discomfort indicates a poor fit or an unsuitable model.

The choice of bell boot size primarily depends on your horse's size and build. We generally recommend:
- S: Ponies B, C
- M: Ponies D, Thoroughbreds
- L: Horses, Thoroughbreds
- XL: Horses and large horses
